Loss of Consortium

Loss of Consortium:

The loss or deprivation of the benefits of a family relationship due to injuries suffered by a person. It is often called the loss of companionship and may include the inability of one’s spouse to have normal marital or sexual relations due to a spouses injuries. This may be a second cause of action in a civil case. In Washington State, loss of consortium is allowed as an element of damages under the wrongful death statute.
