Seattle man charged with vehicular assault after injury accident

A Washington State Patrol press release reports that David E. Williams of Seattle, 19, was charged with Vehicular Assault due to reckless driving which caused two collisions and seriously injured his passenger in Tacoma, Washington.

According to the report Willliams was recklessly driving and speeding in his Honda Civic on eastbound SR 512 at Portland Avenue. He lost control of his civic and hit a car driven by Franklin D. Abellera, 47, of Eatonville. He then struck a tractor trailer driven by Thomas S. Robinson, 50, of Gladstone Oregon.

A passenger in Williams’ car, Brandi L. Gouras, 18, of Yelm, was seriously injured and transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Abellera received minor injuries. Williams also received minor which were treated and then he was book on suspicion of one count of Vehicular Assault.

Vehicular Assault, statute RCW 46.61.522, is the statute that provides a driver can be charged if he or she seriously injures someone while driving recklessly, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs or driving without the regard of the safety of others.
