Carjacker crashes car on Interstate 5 in Seattle during police pursuit

A Kirkland man had his Jaguar XJ6 taken at knife-point in the 13000 block of 166th Way Northeast around noon on Saturday afternoon reports The Seattle Times. A Medina police officer saw the Jaguar heading west on State Route 520 and pursued it. The chase went across Lake Washington and onto the Interstate 5 headed south and ended when the Jaguar crashed into two other vehicles on Interstate 5 at Pine Street.

The driver of the Jaguar suffered injuries and had to be extricated from the stolen car. He was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Charges are pending. A driver of one of the cars hit by the Jaguar also suffered injuries.

The Medina police are investigating whether they followed proper protocol in pursuing the Jaguar.
