The Seattle Times reports that an unidentified male pedestrian, age 44, was seriously injured after being hit by a Sound Transit bus Friday evening in Everett. He was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment of injuries.

The pedestrian accident happened at the intersection of Pacific and Wetmore avenues around 5pm.

Police are investigating the cause of the accident and do not know if the man was in a crosswalk when he was hit. They will examine a video that was taken by the bus' camera.

Every year, more than 100,000 pedestrians are injured and 5,900 pedestrians are killed by motor vehicles according to the National Safety Council.
