Battle Ground school bus rear-ended at railroad crossing

The Washington State Patrol reports that a Battle Ground School Bus that was stopped at a railroad crossing on northbound SR-503 was rear ended by a car driven by Jace Delgado, age 22, of Battle Ground, Washington.

According to the report, Delgado tried changing lanes to go around the bus but ended up rear-ending it.

The bus driver, Nina Millard, age 39, of Battle Ground was not injured and was the only passenger on the bus. Delgado suffered minor injuries and was complaining of back pain so he was taken to Southwest Washington Medical Center for treatment.

The Washington State Patrol cited Delgado for traveling too fast for the driving conditions.

Washington State statute RCW 46.61.370 requires all drivers to stop when a school bus has put out a stop sign or other visual signal and the driver should not proceed until the school bus resumes or the stop sign is no longer activated.
