The Wenatchee World reports that a semi truck driver has been killed and they are searching for her co-driver in the Columbia river after the truck they were driving was involved in a trucking accident on the Beebe Bridge over the Columbia River.

According to the report, the truck’s driver, Kathleen L. Walker, age 48 of Olympia, was found inside the wreckage of the truck cab which was found in 30 feet of water. Walker was still belted in her seat. The body of Walker’s partner has not been found.

The truck accident happened around 5pm on Monday evening on Highway 97 about four miles south of Chelan. No one knows what caused the truck to veer to the left and go through the railing about a quarter mile across the Bridge. There were no skid marks. The truck was carrying a load of Red Delicious apples from Trout-Blue Chelan at the time of the accident..
