Teen killed, family members injured in Richland car accident

A teenage boy, Joevani Olivera age 16 of Kennewick, was killed today when the car he was riding in was involved in an accident and went off a bridge on the I-182 over the Yakima River in Richland.

According to a report in the Tri-City Herald, Joevani, his father, Ignacio R. Olivera age 48, and Antonio Olivera, age 21, were riding in a car driven by his sister, Terry Olivera age 20, when Terry clipped a Jeep, lost control and went over the side of the roadway, plunging onto the river bank below.

Terry Olivera and her father were both treated at Kadlec Medical Center in Richland and released. Antionio Olivera underwent surgery and is said to be in stable condition.

The driver of the jeep, Kenneth R. Sump, and his wife Sharon Sump of Richland were not injured.
