2 children injured in Federal Way pedestrian accident

A 5-year-old boy and a 20-month-old baby were critically and seriously injured in a pedestrian accident in Federal Way this evening around 6pm. The 5-year-old was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle and the baby was driven to the same hospital.

According to The Seattle Times, the children were with their mother in a controlled crosswalk with flashing lights at Southwest Campus Drive and 17th Avenue Southwest when a vehicle driven by a 31-year-old woman struck them.

The children’s mother was not injured in the accident but the driver was taken to Harborview with neck pain.

Police are investigating what caused the pedestrian accident. The driver was going to undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation.
