Anacortes woman killed in Coupeville-area car accident

The HeraldNet.com of Everett reports that Alexis M. Gilman, 20, of Anacortes, died after she was involved in a car accident on Highway 20 near Coupeville on Friday morning.

According to the report, the motor vehicle accident happened around 6am when Gilman’s vehicle, a 1997 Volkswagen convertible, was hit by a pickup truck driven by Dean A. Tucker, 52, of Coupeville. Apparently Tucker’s pickup truck drifted across the centerline on a curve and hit Gilman’s car head-on.

Tucker was taken to Whidbey General Hospital in Coupeville; his condition is unknown.

Washington State Patrol Trooper, Keith Leary, said that weather conditions and excessive speed were factors in the motor vehicle accident.
