Man arrested and faces charges in Seattle DUI car accident

Police have arrested a man after he caused car accident in Seattle that injured two people .

The News Tribune reports that the man ran a red light as he drove on S. Ryan way and hit a car traveling northbound on Martin Luther King Way S. Two people in the car that was hit suffered serious injuries, including a fractured pelvis; they were taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment.

Police said the man who ran the red light may have been driving under the influence at the time of the accident. He may be charged with Vehicular Assault. Washington state vehicle code RCW 46.61.522, states that a driver can be charged with Vehicular Assault if someone was seriously injured in a motor vehicle accident and the driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time.
