Amboy man dies of car accident injuries, driver faces charges

H. Sloan Blanchard, 27, of Amboy, has died of injuries he suffered as a passenger in a La Center car accident confirms an official at Southwest Washington Medical Center in Vancouver, Washington.

The Columbian reports that Blanchard suffered critical injuries in an October 16th single car accident that occurred in the 15000 block of Northeast Cedar Creek Road near Pup Creek. He was taken to Southwest Washington Medical Center where he died sometime later.

According to the report, police were summoned to the car accident scene by a 911 call. They found Blanchard pinned in an older model Cadillac; the driver of the vehicle and left the accident scene.

Police have arrested the driver of the vehicle that Blanchard was riding in, Jason Graham, 36, of Vancouver. He was arrested for felony hit and run and outstanding warrants. He may be charged with Vehicular Homicide.

Washington vehicle code RCW 46.61.520 states that a person may be charged with Vehicular Homicide if a person dies as a result of negligent operation of a vehicle and the driver was driving recklessly, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs or driving without disregard to the safety others.
