According to the report, the woman was struck by a Ford Taurus as she crossed at the intersection of Bel-Red Road and 120th Avenue Northeast on Monday morning.

The article did not say what caused the woman to be hit but her injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

Every year, more than 100,000 pedestrians are struck and injured in pedestrian accidents and approximately 5,900 pedestrians were killed.

Washington State vehicle code RCW 46.61.235 — Crosswalks — maintains that a vehicle must stop and remain stopped to allow pedestrians or bicycles to cross the roadway within an unmarked or marked crosswalk when the pedestrian or bicycle is within one lane of the half of the roadway upon which the vehicle is traveling or onto which it is turning.
