Cle Elum car accident kills 2, injures 3

Seattle’s KomoNews.com reports that two people were killed and three people were injured in a one-car accident. Killed in the crash are Wayne Free, 63 of Cle Elum and his passenger, Alice Young, 86.

The three backseat passengers were all air-lifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment of their injuries. The three backseat passengers were Jackie Knowlton, 58, Austin Knowlton, 10, and Justin Knowlton, 8. All three Knowltons are from Brewster. All three suffered head, neck and back injuries as well as internal injuries.

The accident occurred when the car driven by Free drifted off the road, hit an embankment, rolled over and caught fire about four miles east of Cle Elum on Highway 10.
