11 people injured in 3-car accident near Vancouver, WA

Eleven people were injured, six seriously, in a three-car accident in Proebstel, WA, just east of Vancouver. According to the Columbian.com, the accident was caused by a 2001 Honda that pulled out of the Creekside Market parking lot, failing to yield to oncoming traffic.

According to the report, the car accident occurred at 18040 NE Fourth Plain Road directly in front of the Creekside Country Market. The Honda made a left turn out of the parking lot onto Fourth Plain and was hit by a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse and then was hit head-on by a 2006 Toyota Corolla.

In all six people were seriously injured and they were transported to trauma units in three different area hospitals. Two other people were injured and were transported to hospitals in stable conditions. Three other people suffered minor injuries.

Washington State Patrol are investigating the accident but they said there was no snow and only standing water on the roadway at the time of the accident.

Vehicle Code RCW 46.61.205 says that a vehicle entering a highway from a private road or driveway shall yield the right-of-way to all vehicles approaching on the highway. It is not known whether the driver of the Honda has been cited.
