The Washington State Patrol is investigating King County Assessor, Scott Noble, for drunken driving and vehicular assault after an injury car accident on January 18 when Noble was seriously injured as well as two women in a car that he hit on Interstate 5.
According to a report in The Seattle Times, the accident occurred around 2am on Interstate 5 in Auburn near the Highway 18 on ramp. Witnesses reported seeing Noble’s SUV speeding and weaving when he pulled his Toyota Highlander over and then pulled a U-turn, driving southbound in the northbound lanes of the I-5.
Noble ran into a 2005 Liberty driven by Leslie Workman, 26 of Oak Harbor. Workman, who suffered several broken bones in the accident said that she and her passenger were “lucky to be alive.” Her passenger, Lyndsey Jones, age 24, also suffered injuries.
Noble and the two women were taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, with Noble’s injuries being the most severe. Noble was hospitalized for several weeks and has yet to return to his office at the Assessor’s office and is said to be working from home.
The results of Noble’s blood alcohol content (BAC) test has been forwarded to the King County Prosecutor’s office.
Vehicular assault can be charged if someone was seriously injured in a car accident and the driver was driving recklessly or under the influence of alcohol or drugs. In Washington State, the driver is deemed under the influence if their BAC was 0.08 or higher.
