Two killed, three injured in Highway 3 car accident near Poulsbo

A Kent father of two, Michael B Kelly, age 50, was killed and his family suffered devastating injuries when the Jeep Grand Cherokee they were driving in was hit head-on by a Jeep Cherokee driven by an unidentified man on Highway 3 near Poulsbo reports The Seattle Times. The unidentified man was also killed in the car accident.

Kelly’s wife suffered a serious spinal injury, his 11-year-old son is in critical condition with a skull fracture and a four-year-old daughter suffered serious injuries in the car accident. The family is being treated at Harrison Hospital in Bremerton.

The Kelly family was returning from a day-trip to Victoria, B.C. late Saturday evening and were driving south on Highway 3 when the accident occurred. Just south of the Hood Canal Bridge, a man driving a Jeep Cherokee north, crossed the center line and hit them head-on.

The cause of the car accident is being investigated.
