7 injured in Bothell drunk driving rear-end car accident on I-405

The Washington State Patrol reports that seven people were injured in a car accident, including two mothers and four children, after a drunk driver rear-ended a minivan carrying the mothers and children.

According to the report, Geoffrey T. Goddard, age 25 of Kirkland, was driving under the influence at high speeds going southbound on I-405. Around the NE 195th Street overpass in Bothell, he rear-ended a 2006 grey Mazda. The force of the impact caused the minivan to cross four lanes of traffic before rolling and flipping.

The mothers and children all received non-life threatening injuries and two of the children may have broken bones.

Goddard was taken to Evergreen Hospital in Kirkland for treatment of minor injuries. The patrol said he tried to flee while he was buck naked but he was apprehended in the parking lot.

Goddard was booked into King County Jail for two counts of Vehicular Assault and for escape. Vehicular Assault can be charged if someone was seriously injured in a car accident and the driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
