Sheriff’s car rear-ends Subaru on Interstate 5 in Olympia

An on-duty sheriff’s deputy rear-ended a Subaru on Interstate-5 around 5pm Friday evening reports The Olympian.

According to the report, Sergeant Alvin Griffin was driving his patrol car south on Interstate 5 near the Plum Street exit when he he rear-ended the Subaru driven by Doug Parker of Sumner. Parker then rear-ended the SUV in front of him.

The Washington State Patrol is investigating the car accident but a spokesman for the Thurston County Sheriff’s Department, Lt. Chris Mealy, said that Sgt. Griffin was not distracted by a cell phone or his radio at the time of the accident.

No one was injured in the car accident though it caused a considerable traffic back-up.
