DUI driver injures Washington state trooper in crossover car accident in Federal Way

A Washington State trooper was injured in a car accident today in Federal Way when her car was hit by a drunk driver reports The Olympian.

According to the report, the 31-year-old officer was driving her WSP southbound on 16th Avenue South and was about to enter Highway 18 when a white Ford pickup traveling westbound on Highway 18 lost control of his vehicle while turning, went over the raised median and hit the trooper’s vehicle.

The driver of the pickup truck, a 46-year-old University Place man, was arrested for investigation of DUI with prescription medicine. The trooper was taken to St. Francis Hospital and she is said to be in stable condition.

If the trooper is seriously injured, he could be charged with Vehicular Assault, RCW 46.61.522.
