Two women injured in I-5 car accident in Seattle

A 26-year-old Milton woman is in Harborview Medical Center in Seattle and faces charges of driving under the influence (DUI) and Vehicle Assault after she caused a car accident on Interstate 5 in Seattle early Saturday morning.

According a to a report on KOMO News.com, the Milton woman was driving southbound on I-5 near Interstate 90 when she hit a jersey barrier. The force of the accident spun her car around and she proceeded to drive the wrong-way. A car driven by a 44-year-old Seattle woman hit a jersey barrier as she tried to avoid the northbound car and the two cars collided.

Both women were taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment .

Washington State Patrol believes the Milton woman was under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs at the time of the accident. Vehicular Assault, RCW 46.61.522, can be charged if a person is seriously injured in a car accident and the driver was under the influence.

The victim may be entitled to compensation for medical costs and for pain and suffering.
