A driver that swerved to avoid a lost load — a tarp — on Interstate 90 lost control of their vehicle and crashed resulting in serious injuries. The 37-year-old motorist from Snoqualmie was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment reports The Seattle Times.

The single-car accident occurred around 5:50pm in the westbound lanes of I-90 near Preston.

The Washington State Patrol is looking for anyone who may have witnessed the car accident or saw a trap fall off a vehicle, probably a semi truck. They ask that you contact Detective Stacy Moate at 425-401-7746.

Washington State vehicle code, RCW 46.61.65
5, covers dropping loads or other materials. A person who fails to secure a load can be charged with a gross misdemeanor or criminal negligence.
