Rodney James was sentenced to 2-1/2 years in prison followed by 18 months of community supervision after pleading guilty to Vehicular Assault after running into Wah Wong, 67, and Jason Wong, 22 with his car.
Both Wongs were seriously injured in the pedestrian accident; Jason Wong has permanent damage to one leg and may lose his left knee after undergoing multiple surgeries.
According to a report in The Seattle Times written by Sara Jean Green, James was under the influence of drugs and alcohol when he lost control of his Corvette and hit the Wong’s as they stood in their driveway unloading luggage from the trunk of their car.
Vehicular Assault can be charged if a person is seriously injured in a car accident and the driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs, driving recklessly or driving with reckless disregard to the safety of others.
