Transit bus injures pedestrian in downtown Olympia

A 60-year-old man was critically injured in a pedestrian accident when he was hit by an Intercity Transit bus in downtown Olympia on Friday morning.

According to a report in The Olympian, the man was crossing Columbia Street by the bus as it turned left from Olympia Avenue Northwest around 9:30am.

Transit spokeswoman, Meg Kester, said the glare from the sun and a blind spot may have obscured the driver’s ability to see the pedestrian.

The injured man was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for unspecified injuries.
