Mechanical malfunction blamed for Spokane Valley injury accident

The Washington State Patrol blames mechanical malfunction for causing a rollover motor vehicle accident in Spokane Valley today.

According to a report in the Spokesman-Review, the rear end of Deborah A. McKinney’s Ford Explorer SUV became detached causing the vehicle to roll.

McKinney was taken to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane where she is listed in satisfactory condition. Her passenger, Timothy L. Stearns, 45, was listed in serious condition at the same hospital.

The report said that both McKinney and Stearns were thrown from the SUV in the accident and that the pair were not wearing seat belts.
