Teens injured in Highway 101 car accident

The Olympian reports that two men from Lacey were injured in a car accident on U.S. Highway 101 near Olympic National Park around 7:17pm on Thursday night.

According to the report, Francisco L. Barros, 18, driving a 1984 Mercedes tried to overtake and pass a Chrysler Voyager driven by Larry B. Coburn, 41, of Forks, that had slowed to make a left turn and collided with the Voyager.

Barros and his passenger, Andrew S. French, 18, were taken to Grays Harbor Community Hospital for treatment of their injuries.

Coburn was not injured in the car accident. His passenger, Danielle N. Candia, 18, of Corpus Christi, Texas was taken to Community Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Barros’ vehicle was totaled in the accident. Barros will be cited for illegal passing.
