3 children injured in Mount Vernon car accident, mother faces charges

The mother of three children has been arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of drugs in the single-car accident that injured her children, one critically.

According to a report by Seattle’s King 5 News, the car accident occurred around 10:30pm Wednesday night in downtown Mount Vernon. Apparently the mother, who was driving a Hyuandai with her three children and the children’s father inside, crossed the center line and hit a telephone pole. Police say the woman was speeding at the time of the car accident.

The three children &mdash ages 2, 5 and 7 &mdash were taken to Skagit Valley Hospital. The 5-year-old child was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with critical injuries. The children were not secured in child safety seats.
