Port Orchard teen seriously injured when car apparently deliberately hit him as he rode is bicycle

A teenager who was riding is bicycle home after working at the South Kitsap food bank was apparently deliberately hit by an SUV as he crossed Bay Street and Seattle Avenue in Port Orchard on Wednesday.

According to Seattle’s KING5 news, the SUV driven by a 33-year-old Silverdale man “intentionally swerved his SUV and hit the teenager.”

The driver of the SUV told police that the teen was too close to the white line. He has been arrested on suspicion of Vehicular Assault, RCW 46.61.522. Vehicular Assault can be charged if a driver seriously injures someone while driving recklessly, driving under the influence or driving without regard for the safety of others.

The report said the driver had been stopped a short time earlier and cited by police for speeding nearby.
