81-year-old woman killed, family of 4 injured in Kent rear-end car accident

An 81-year-old Kent woman was killed in a Kent car accident when she rear-ended an SUV that was stopped at a red light.

The News Tribune of Tacoma reports that the Kent fatal car accident occurred at the intersection of 208th Street and 108th Avenue Southeast around 10am.

The occupants of the SUV, a family of four including the 35-year-old father, 31-year-old mother and two children ages 13 and 9 were seriously injured in the car accident.

The 13-year-old girl was the most critically injured and she was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. The other members of the family were taken to Valley Medical Center in Renton where they were listed in serious condition.

Kent police suspect that the elderly woman may have suffered a medical event prior to the car accident. Kent police are investigating reports that she had sideswiped another vehicle prior to the rear-end motor vehicle accident. An autopsy will be performed on the woman.
