A wrong way driver on Interstate 82 near Richland was responsible for a multiple vehicle car accident in which the wrong way driver was killed as well as the driver of another car and her passenger .
The Tri City Herald reports that Marco A. Delamora, 26, of Pasco, drove his pickup truck eastbound in the westbound I-82 near Dallas around 8:30 pm on Sunday night and collided with a 2004 Mazda driven by Heather M. Davidson, 27, of Richland.
Delamora’s truck flipped upside down and caught on fire and Delmora was killed in the motor vehicle accident.
Davidson was killed in the accident along with her passenger, Stephen L. Metzger, 30, of Kennewick.
Davidson’s 3-year-old son, Brennan, who was in the back seat survived the accident and he was taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane for treatment of undisclosed injuries.
Three other vehicles were also involved in the accident including a Chevy Cobalt driven by Candise R. King, 26, of Benton City, who was not hurt; a 2002 GMC pickup driven by Nicolas B. Windsor, 20, of Benton City and his passenger Aaron L. Phillips, 25, of Richland; a 2008 Honda CRV driven by Kelsey T. Edwardsen, 27, of Portland. None of these people were seriously injured according to the Herald.
It is unknown what caused Delamora to drive the wrong way. The article said there was dense fog in the Columbia Basin on Sunday evening. The investigation should determine whether the weather or alcohol or drugs played a part in the crash.
