The Washington State Patrol reports that a Yelm man, driving a Ford pickup truck, was seriously injured in a Thurston County 3-vehicle accident on Bald Hills Road at 128th Avenue around 3:34pm on January 27.

According to the media release, the Yelm man was waiting to make a left onto 128th Avenue from northbound Bald Hills Road when he was rear-ended which pushed his pickup truck into the southbound lanes where it collided with a southbound vehicle. The force of the collision caused the pickup truck to roll.

The Yelm man was seriously injured and was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. His two passengers, both juveniles, were treated to St. Pete’s Hospital.

The driver of the vehicle that rear-ended the pickup truck was cited for Negligent Driving in the second degree.

Washington Vehicle Code RCW 46.61.526 — Negligent driving — can be cited if the driver of a motor vehicle is both negligent and endangers or is likely to endanger any person or property. The driver is subject to a fine of $250.

When a person is seriously injured in a motor vehicle caused by the negligence of another person, he/she can file a claim in civil court seeking damages for medical costs, loss of wages and for pain and suffering.
