2 killed in Highway 101 head-on motor vehicle accident

Mary Irene Johnson, 51, of Hoodsport, and Richard Lee Bieniek, 52, of Hoquiam were both killed yesterday when the Honda Accord they were in crossed the center line and crashed into a semi truck.

The head-on collision occurred on Tuesday around noon on Highway 101 near Potlatch State Park.

The semi truck driver was not injured in the accident.

Police are investigating the accident.

Head On Collisions
Our hearts go out to the two people who died in this accident. Hopefully, police will determine the cause of the accident which might bring some sense of closure to their families.

Head on collisions are deadlier than other types of auto accidents because of the high forces involved. They are especially catastrophic when the two vehicles are mismatched as when a car and a semi truck, as was the case in this accident, collide.
