Seattle metro bus involved in fatal pedestrian accident

Seattle police are investigating a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred this morning on Capitol Hill when a Metro bus struck a man at 11th Avenue and Pine Street around 6am this morning near Cal Anderson Park according to the Seattle police blotter.

According to the Seattle Police blog, the man who was killed appeared to be in in his 20’s. The investigation will attempt to determine if the pedestrian was already on the ground when he was struck. The man may have been dragged by the bus as his body was found behind the bus.

It does not appear that the bus driver, an employee of Metro for the past three years, was impaired.

Any metro bus accident will be fully investigated. Investigators go out to the accident scene immediately after the accident. Bus drivers are trained to cooperate fully with investigators and are often the first person to report the bus accident to authorities.
