3 killed in Kingston-area head-on car accident

Three people were killed in a State Route 104 head-on collision on Wednesday night reports King 5.

Apparently, a woman in her 50’s driving a Lexus crossed the center line and hit a Ford Escort head-on. A man age 44 and a woman also age 44 were in the Escort. The driver of the Lexus and the couple in the Escort were all killed on impact.

The car accident occurred around 7:30pm on Wednesday night at mile post 23. The highway was closed for a length time as an investigation was conducted. Traffic had to be diverted. This road is widely used by people who are headed to the Edmonds/Kingston ferry.

At this point, it is not known what caused the driver of the Lexus to cross the center line and drive into oncoming traffic. An officer on the accident scene described the head-on impact as “solid”.

Crossing the Center Line Accidents

Most head-on collisions are caused by negligent driving. Often alcohol or drugs are involved or the driver is drowsy or distracted. Sometimes, the driver is elderly or confused.

Because of the combined forces of two vehicles driving at relatively high speeds in opposite directions, the results are often catastrophic as in this accident.

Because there were fatalities in this accident, an investigation will be performed to determine the specifics. This information can be used by a personal injury attorney to assist the families with any accident claims.
