Alleged DUI driver causes Lacey car accident that leaves 5 injured, 1 critically

A 31-year-old woman from Olympia stands accused of causing a car accident near Lacey that has left a 27-year-old Olympia man in critical condition and four others with serious injuries. Danny Morgan Jr. of Olympia was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after the Toyota he was driving was hit head-on by the suspected drunk driver.

According to a report by of Seattle, the woman was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol on State Route 510 near Lacey when she crossed the center line with her Durango and hit a 2000 Toyota Camry head-on carrying Morgan and four passengers.

All four passengers in the Toyota were injured including Kathleen Quittenton, 27, of Tumwater; and three of Morgan’s family members including, Angela Morgan, 64; Brenda Morgan, 58; and Danny W. Morgan (Sr.), 54. All four of the passengers suffered serious injuries in the accident and were taken to St. Peter Hospital.

The alleged drunk driver was arrested on suspicion of Vehicular Assault after being treated for minor injuries. Vehicular Assault, RCW 46.61.522, can be charged if a person is seriously injured in a motor vehicle accident and a driver was driving recklessly or driving under the influence.
