Seattle’s King5.com reports that a blind woman and her service dog were seriously injured after a car drifted out of its lane, struck another car and then the woman and dog who were on a sidewalk. The woman was taken to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Her dog was taken to an animal hospital.
The pedestrian accident occurred on Aurora Avenue in Seattle, Washington. While details are sketchy, it appears that the 31-year-old driver of the car suffered a “medical emergency”and lost control of the car.
National Transportation Statistics tell us that more than 100,000 pedestrians are injured and approximately 5,900 pedestrians are killed after being hit by cars each year. .
