Today is the first day of “All American Buckle-Up Week”. This is an event in which law enforcement agencies throughout the United States join together to encourage seat belt use to reduce car accident injuries and fatalities.
According to a press release issued by the Washington State Patrol, troopers will be especially vigilant targeting drivers who violate seat belt laws, drivers who are speeding, drivers who are driving aggressively and drivers who are intoxicated.
According to statistics, Washington State has one of the highest seat belt compliance rate in the United States. Wearing seat belts and having children in the proper booster seats, car seats and restraints are the most effective way that drivers can reduce serious injuries and fatalities in car accidents.
