The Daily News Online, serving the lower Columbia, reports that 19-year-old Robert C. Vandiver, of Kelso, was killed early Monday morning in a single car accident four miles of Castle Rock when the car he was riding in hit a utility pole and landed in a ditch.
According to the report, Loren R. Seaman, 23, of Kelso was driving a 1991 Acura Integra northbound on West Side Highway near Castle Rock around 2am when he lost control of the vehicle.
A second passenger, Cody E. Elliott, age 17 of Kelso, was treated at St. John Medical Center for treatment of a broken arm and facial cuts and is in satisfactory condition.
A third passenger, Shannon L. Allen, 25, of Kelso, was reportedly not injured.
Seaman may be charged with Vehicular Homicide and Vehicular Assault in the motor vehicle accident. Police believe that he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident and was speeding. Washington State vehicle code, RCW 46.61.520, provides that a driver can be charged with Vehicular Homicide if a person dies as a result of negligent operation of a vehicle and the driver was driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs or driving without regard for the safety of others.
