The Olympian reports that a two-car accident on Highway 603 injured three people on Monday. Washington State Patrol reports that a car driven by Alivn O. Chapman, 71, of Winlock was hit by a car driven by Heidi D. Uhri, 31, of Centralia when Chapman attempted to make a left turn in front of Uhri. Chapman was cited for “failure to yield.”
Chapman suffered check and neck injuries and he was taken to Centralia Providence hospital. Uhri had chest injuries and a arm laceration and her passenger, Jeremiah R. Johnson, 24 of Napavine, who suffered injuries to his left side were both driven to Centralia Providence for treatment.
The Revised Code of Washington RCW 46.61.185 is the code which regulates a vehicle turning left. It states that a driver who is turning left should yield the right-of-way to any vehicle approaching from the opposite direction as to not constitute an immediate hazard.
