Man suffers spinal cord injury in Mason County single-car accident

Cody S. Gaisser, 21, of Hoodsport suffered a spinal cord injury in a single car accident in Mason County on Saturday night.

According to a report in The Olympian, Gaisser was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Kayla P. Walker, 20, also of Hoodsport. Walker apparently veered off of State Route 119 around 10pm, striking a cable box and then a tree stump.

Gaisser was taken to Mason General Hospital and then taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle by medivac flight.

Walker was cited for negligent driving. The report said that alcohol or drugs were not a factor in the car accident. Negligent driving in the second degree is a misdemeanor and usually results in a $250 fine.
