Sylvester Barron III, 35 of Oak Harbor, has been charged in Island County Superior Court with “assault in the second degree and perjury in the second degree” for allegedly hitting a pedestrian with his car after an argument over a parking space. Barron has pleaded not guilty reports The Seattle Post-Intelligencer.
According to the report, Barron had an altercation with a woman who confronted him about the way that he had parked. The woman and Barron argued and Barron threatened to run over the woman. He then reportedly hit the woman with his car and drove off when she fell to the ground.
The woman apparently was not injured in the incident.
Another woman admitted in court that she wrote a false witness statement on behest of Barron, hence Barron’s perjury charge.
This is certainly a very strange case with Barron and the unidentified woman both displaying obstinate behavior.
