The pedestrian accident occurred at the crosswalk on Post Street and First Avenue. The driver of a Chevy pickup was turning left and failed to yield to the woman who had the Walk sign.
The driver may be charged with failure to yield to a pedestrian but police said their was no sign that alcohol or drugs were involved.
Every year approximately 100,000 pedestrian are injured by motor vehicles. Washington State laws provides that pedestrians have the right of way and drivers must yield. Failure to do so is negligence on the part of the motorist.
