The Washington State Patrol is conducting a speed emphases patrol on Interstate 5 between Vancouver and Bellingham, Washington on October 22nd and 23rd. The Patrol will be looking for “speeders and aggressive drivers,” according to The Seattle Times.
Aggressive drivers exhibit two or more of the following behaviors:
- Unsafe lane changing
- Following another vehicle too closely — “tailgating”
- Failing to signal lane changes
- Failing to yield
Washington State Patrol Chief John R. Batiste says, “We are using these speed emphasis patrols as a way to change driver’s behavior, we want drivers to slow down and drive safely.”
37 motorcycle troopers will be conducting the patrols.
