The Washington State Patrol is searching for the driver of a vehicle who fled the scene of a fatal single car accident near Sedro-Woolley reports King 5 News. Sedro-Woolley is a small city in Skagit County approximately 70 miles north of Seattle.
According to the report, the driver went off the road and landed upside down into a slew at Sapp Road and Jones Road, north of Sedro-Woolley.
An unidentified male passenger was killed in the accident.
The WSP is seeking a male that reportedly fled from the accident scene.
Leaving the scene of a car accident is a serious crime and is classified as a class B or class C felony according to Washington State vehicle code RCW 46.52.020. A person convicted of a class B felony faces a sentence of up to 10 years in prison and a $20,000 file. A person convicted of a class C felony faces a sentence of up to 5 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
The WSP will vigorously pursue any driver who leaves the scene of a fatal accident. The driver involved in this accident should do the right thing after the fact and turn themselves in.
